Kristopher Raos (b. 1987, Bakersfield) is a Los Angeles–based artist working across painting, sculpture, and drawing. He develops a rigorous formal language rooted in the rearticulation of vernacular visual systems—commercial culture, graphic motifs, and fragments of the built environment.

Raos’s shaped canvases and calibrated surfaces foreground questions of structure, proportion, and edge. His works emerge through a deliberate, iterative process of distillation—where sourced and remembered forms are reduced, adjusted, and resolved through measured decisions of scale, contour, and surface. Executed with exacting restraint, his compositions hover between legibility and abstraction, operating as self-contained objects rather than representations.

In dialogue with traditions of hard-edge painting and reductive abstraction, Raos advances a practice that is both materially grounded and perceptually attuned. His works sustain a quiet tension between clarity and indeterminacy, offering a considered meditation on how images are constructed, encountered, and remembered.
